Stuart Gray
Managing Director  
Stuart founded Portus in September 2003. Day to day he is focused on delivering the growth plans for the business and overall day to day anagement. Stuart also undertakes a large amount of client work. This is primarily employee benefit related work, for a wide range of clients, but with particular focus and expertise within the law firm, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. He places a large degree of emphasis on ensuring that clients receive the maximum return on investment for the spend made on employee benefits.

Before establishing Portus, Stuart was a founder and director of another Employee Benefit Consultancy, which was established in April 1998.  Prior to this time, Stuart spent the early part of his career working for a leading high street bank and two market leading insurance companies, where his initial expertise in employee benefits was developed.

Stuart lives just outside Stratford-upon-Avon, is married to Kate and they have a daughter.  Stuart has a keen interest in football, both playing and watching, together with working out at the gym.  In his younger (and lighter!) days he was a nationally ranked badminton player and represented both Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

Dave Middleton
Client Relationship Director 
Dave’s role involves providing employee benefit consultancy services to his existing clients as well as being responsible for new business and expanding the Portus client base. Dave has been instrumental in producing the Portus Occupational Health Programme and promoting a wellness and integrated benefit strategy for our clients. Dave has particular expertise within the law firm, finance and general manufacturing sectors.

Before joining Portus in 2004 Dave was Area Sales Manager for Norwich Union Healthcare and prior to this was branch manager for Swiss Life UK’s Birmingham office. Dave has been in the insurance industry for over 15 years.  

Dave lives in Hammerwich, near Lichfield, is married to Sharon and has a son and a daughter. Dave is a keen cricketer and is captain of Walsall CC first eleven who play in the Birmingham and District Premier League. He has represented the Midlands Club Cricket Conference in Australia and the MCC in Japan.

Guy Roberts 
Client Relationship Director
Guy joined Portus in January 2006 as part of Portus’ strategy to expand their client base and provide an extended range of Employee Benefit consultancy services to existing clients. Guy has worked in Financial Services for over 20 years, with the last 10 years exclusively focused on Employee Benefits. His immediate past role was Midlands Area Manager for UnumProvident, the market leading Group Risk Insurer. Guy has particular expertise within the Legal and Pharmaceutical sectors.

Guy lives in Northamptonshire with Jo and their four children. His interests include playing hockey and golf and watching any sports particularly football, where he supports Birmingham City.

Sue Gregory
Marketing Director
Sue has worked as part of Stuart Gray’s original team since 1999. Sue is responsible for promoting Portus to new business prospects primarily through direct marketing campaigns. Sue has played a central role in increasing Portus’s market share of the legal sector.   Sue started her working life with American Express and Trailfinders in London. After completing an MSc at Strathclyde University Sue became Marketing Manager at the Smallpeice Trust. Sue has also lectured in Marketing.

Sue lives in Warwick, is married to Jonathan and has two teenage daughters. She is a keen walker having recently completed the 3 Peaks challenge raising funds for PlanUK, and the London Moonwalk for Breast Cancer Research. In her youth, before acquiring a taste for luxury and comfort, Sue thought of herself as a bit of an intrepid explorer having driven across Africa in a Land Rover, hitch-hiked around South America and trekked in the Himalayas.
